Easy CrockPot Party Meatballs

The classic slow cooker meatball recipe, grape jelly and Heinz chili sauce! This recipe is easy to make and should be one that you’re familiar with, so let’s get to it!

I’ll say this every time with party apps, keep it simple and familiar. If you’ve ever held a get together at your house then you know how stressful it can be. This is where crock pots are awesome because they can cook food for guests in the background while you do whatever else it is that you have to do, with minimal ingredients and low cost. And many times the recipes are ones that most of your guests will be familiar with so people just start making plates when they get hungry.

To me, this is one of the most attractive things about slow cooker recipes. In this case what we’re going to do is add only three ingredients to a 2 to 2.5 quart crockpot and let it cook on low for five hours. Yep it’s that simple.

Don’t get me wrong I love to make my own meatballs from scratch and bake them in the oven, there are so many great recipes out there. However the whole point in going the CrockPot route is to simplify things and make life easy. I do have a few suggestions though, as you might have guessed.

One, get 100% angus beef meatballs. They’re just better quality than pork blends. I like pork, I love bacon and sausage… But in this case you’ll just have to trust me. Pay for the all angus beef frozen meatballs.

Suggestion number two; look at the amount of meatballs in the package. How many people are you serving? You may even want to compare the amount of meatballs in the package to the total ounces of the package. So for instance if the package is 20 ounces and it says they’re 20 meatballs then your meatball size is one ounce each. If that’s the case, I find that three meatballs per guest is a perfect serving size.

Three, get your ingredient to space ratio correct. For this recipe you need a 2 quart CrockPot. Anything larger than 2.5 quarts is too large, unless you’re increasing the amount of ingredients. You always want to aim for two-thirds ingredient to space ratio in a slow cooker.

And lastly keep your grape jelly to Heinz Chili Sauce ratio the same if you’re increasing the amount of meatballs. For every 20 ounces of meatballs it should be 1/2 cup of Heinz Chili Sauce to every 1 cup of grape jelly. This serves six people. If you have to double this recipe, upgrade your slow cooker to a 4-5 quart crock pot, or triple it with a 7-8 quart crock pot.

Anyway without further ado, let’s get to it!
